Al-Masjid an-Nabawi
Al-Masjid an-Nabawi is a sacred mosque in Medina, built by the Prophet Muhammad and his companions after the Hijra, and it houses the Prophet’s tomb.
In June 2019, discussions began with an Egyptian restoration company, followed by sample production and on-site evaluations in Medina. The project was completed with faithful reproduction of the original body, undercoat, paint, and glaze.
Within the scope of the restoration, 462 Iznik tiles in various sizes (25x25 cm, 8x25 cm, 10x25 cm, and 12x25 cm) were produced by Iznik Mavi Cini, using the underglaze technique integrated with traditional hand-drawn decoration. The tile restoration was successfully completed in March 2020.
