Eyüp Sultan Tomb

Commissioned by Fatih Sultan Mehmed in 1458 and richly adorned with tiles during the reign of Sultan Ahmed I, the Eyup Sultan Tomb is one of the most sacred sites in Istanbul.

In the 2013 restoration led with Anikya, missing tiles on the tomb’s interior walls were reproduced by Iznik Mavi Cini.

A total of 2,200 Iznik tiles were produced, each marked with the production year on the reverse. The project, completed in 2015, included the development of 11 new red glaze tones, of which six were used to achieve perfect historical harmony.
